BEAT MASTA WES - Biography
Born, Wesley Harris, III in 1973 in Port Arthur, TX. Wesley Harris, III; A.K.A. (Beat Masta Wes), began producing and writing at the age of 15 for local rap groups and singers. He also began to hone his Technical Skills working with friends Pimp C. and Bun B. of U.G.K. on their debut album. Harris gained his musical knowledge from years of training in school and private lessons as well as growing up in the church as a drummer. Harris gained a scholarship to college as a music major with a focus in Vocal Performance due to his ability and gift to sing. He continued to grow and learn more about the theory and fundamentals of music through his college training. While in college Harris received a production deal from Rap-A-Lot Records where he and his brother, Avery Harris, helped to jumpstart the label's R&B division; producing as, "The Harris Brothers". While at Rap-A-Lot/ Sing-A-Lot Harris gained the knowledge he would need to become the sought after Producer/ Recording Engineer/ Mixer that he has become today. After working with Sing-A-Lot records Harris began to work with some of the artists from his hometown including: DJ DMD and Innersoul Records, Laboo, Wink Dawg, Hezeleo and Hardtime on regional and nationwide projects. Harris and his brother Avery continued to make noise in their hometown and Houston, Texas as well. Harris along with his brother were often referred to as the Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis of their area. After signing a management deal with a VP of Bad Boy Entertainment in 1994 they were given the opportunity to display their talent on a wider scale and to people in and around the music industry that had clout. This opportunity opened the doors to allow Harris to work with urban music hit makers such as, Dr. Dre, P. Diddy and Mary J. Blige. Since then Harris has worked with Gospel music Legend, Andrae Crouch and also Aftermath artist, The Game, and Tatyana Ali. Harris is now working on several projects with new artist around the world. Look for new music to hit in 2007.
